Everything here seems to revolve around Mount Etna, from the dramatic landscapes to the food traditions shaped by the many cultures that have influenced Catania over the centuries. I love enjoying a proper Sicilian aperitivo with olives, local olive oil, bread, cheeses, and cured meats, paired with a glass of local wine, and taking a seaside stroll to admire Catania’s striking black volcanic rocks. I know the Historic Centre, Ognina, and Corso Italia well, and I’m always happy to share my favourite spots, whether it’s a lively local bar, a beautiful rooftop, or a cosy bookshop where I can enjoy languages, books, and coffee.

What fascinates me most is Catania’s unique contrast between lively city streets, centuries of history and the powerful presence of Mount Etna. I enjoy walking through the Baroque centre, exploring markets, discovering hidden corners and stopping for a coffee or some delicious street food. As a tour guide, I’m passionate about Catania’s history, architecture, local traditions and gastronomy, especially how Etna, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions have shaped the city. I’m also happy to share local festivals, wines, restaurants and hidden gems, as well as tips for exploring nearby Siracusa and Palermo.

What I enjoy most is how easy it is to strike up a conversation here, whether over a refreshing selz at a neighborhood chiosco or while wandering through the bustling markets. I love cycling through the streets, discovering layers of local history in ancient monasteries, and climbing church towers for incredible views of the city and Mount Etna. Catania is full of stories, from fascinating legends and Sicilian superstitions to the history behind its traditional dishes.
