This private evening tour of Rome was well worth it. Everything was easy from the start, and the whole experience felt smooth and stress-free. Walking through Rome at night was the highlight. The Christmas lights and nearby market gave the city a special feel, and stopping for dinner, pastries, and hot chocolate made the evening even better. It never felt rushed and was a great way to take in the city. Luca, our guide, was excellent. He knew the history inside and out and explained things in a way that was interesting and easy to follow. You could tell he really enjoys sharing Rome and its history. Rome has been on my bucket list for a long time. We went in not knowing exactly what to expect and came away very happy with the experience. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, personal way to experience the city.

We chose this tour because we wanted to explore the bazaars at a relaxed pace, with the freedom to wander and follow whatever caught our interest—and it turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. İpek was a wonderful guide for this walking tour. She gave us the space to decide our own preferences while offering great suggestions whenever we needed guidance. She even helped us negotiate with local vendors using her “secret method,” which made the experience both fun and rewarding. Throughout the walk, she shared insightful historical and cultural information and patiently answered all our questions. We managed to explore the Grand Bazaar, the pedestrian market, and the Spice Bazaar, wrapping up the tour perfectly in time for lunch. All in all, it was a great day of shopping, browsing, and learning—highly recommended for those who prefer a more flexible and unhurried way to experience Istanbul’s bazaars.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Is this a traditional tour or something different?

This isn’t a traditional tour with a fixed script. It’s a fully personalized day shaped around your interests, whether it’s culture, history, neighborhoods, or hidden local spots. Your host is a knowledgeable local, more like a friend showing you their city. It’s flexible, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to you.

What if I don’t know what I want to explore?

That’s completely fine! Select an experience theme or a flexible discovery experience, and after booking, answer a few questions so your host can design the perfect experience for you.

How does personalization work?

After booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire where you can share your interests, travel style, and any must-see spots. Based on that, we’ll match you with a local host who’ll reach out to plan your personalized itinerary..

Can I request specific places or types of stops?

Yes! After booking, you will receive a questionnaire where you can highlight must-visit spots and anything else you’d like to include, and your host will craft your experience around them.

Will I know my itinerary in advance?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to chat with your host directly and agree on a plan for the day. However, there’s always room for spontaneity and local surprises!

Will I see famous landmarks or just hidden gems?

Both! Your host will take you to iconic sights if you want to see them, but they’ll also introduce you to places and stories most travelers miss.

Can I change the meeting place?

Yes, you will be in touch with your host before your experience, and you can agree on a different meeting point with them. Your host can meet you anywhere central that’s convenient.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.

How much walking is involved?

This depends on the experience, but your host can adjust the pace to suit your comfort level.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Your experience will still go ahead, and your host will adapt the day to suit the conditions. One of the great things about City Unscripted is that no two experiences are the same, and your host knows the city well enough to find great “rainy day” alternatives.
