What you’ll do
Get a crash course on how to explore the cultural center of Colombia like a local, like visiting city central's famous Plaza Bolívar for a glimpse of Bogotá's political history, but slipping away to see once-illegal street art in a hidden street. Snap a picture of the towering La Catedral Primada (seat of an archbishop!) after learning about the history of the National Capital and admiring its detailed mural. Escape to Parque Santander, a spot of green amidst modern skyscrapers, where you can peek at the nearby Gold Museum to visit later. Next, visit the artsy barrio La Macarena, teeming with artists and stories of Colombian past on every corner. Along the tree-lined streets, your host can point out a must-try café for the rest of your visit – do try the local hot chocolate, chocolate santafereño!
