Senna really did a wonderful job putting together and leading us through this tour. He was quite knowledgeable about the food, the area, and the history. He followed up on the questionnaire that we had submitted prior to the tour to ensure that both the foods that we tried and the places that we went would be suitable for my husband and his food allergies. We felt that he truly listened to our request in order to give us what we were looking for, which was really a taste of Brussels through their food on this walking tour. He avoided the tour straps and even fit in an attraction that I’d ask him about, but he hadn’t intended to have on our tour. (she pointed us in the direction of the other two attractions that were nearby as well.) We went where we had two traditional types of sausage and accompanying sauces, a fry place for us to try the potato fries, a bar that had many types of beer and Senna put some thought into the different options for us to try versus just bringing us anything, well done! We tried authentic Belgian waffles done two ways, one had ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce, and one had cherries and chocolate sauce, very tasty. The last two stops had us trying gourmet chocolate from a second generation Belgian chocolatier and stopping in a store where we sampled a very rich chocolate mousse. We wish we had more time in Brussels with Senna by our side to show us more!

This food tour is a great way to experience Brussels through the food. Our guide, Asefeh, took us to the best places and told us which one to pass on. Are you the type that gets stressed out picking places to eat? If so, these guides will make sure you don’t fall for the tourist traps. Seating is always limited so it’s always a good idea to hold down a table while your guide takes care of the rest. Asefeh also gave us great information about the city and the historical facts about things we passed. 10 out of 10!

City Unscripted foodie tour was well worth my time. The guide was excellent and knowledgeable about the local area food spots and history of Brussels. It was an enjoyable walk and food tasting experience. Highly recommend Greg and City Unscripted tours.

FAQs

Your questions, answered

Is this a traditional tour or something different?

This isn’t a traditional tour with a fixed script. It’s a fully personalized day shaped around your interests, whether it’s culture, history, neighborhoods, or hidden local spots. Your host is a knowledgeable local, more like a friend showing you their city. It’s flexible, one-on-one, and tailored entirely to you.

How does personalization work?

After booking, you’ll receive a short questionnaire where you can share your interests, travel style, and any must-see spots. Based on that, we’ll match you with a local host who’ll reach out to plan your personalized itinerary..

Can I mix different themes in one experience?

Yes! You can blend food, culture, history, neighborhoods, or even a bit of nightlife if time allows. Just share your interests in the questionnaire, and your host will build the day around them.

Will I know my itinerary in advance?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to chat with your host directly and agree on a plan for the day. However, there’s always room for spontaneity and local surprises!

Do I need to pay for the host's food or drinks?

No, if you and your host decide to stop for food or drinks during your experience, you don’t need to cover your host’s expenses—your host will take care of their own.

Can my experience accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes! You'll receive a questionnaire right after booking where you can note any dietary requirements, and your host will tailor the experience accordingly.

Do you have deals with restaurants or set food stops?

No, unlike traditional food tours, our hosts are free to take you to their personal favorite spots rather than fixed locations. This means your food experience will always be unique, with authentic and unbiased recommendations from someone who knows the local food scene best.

Is this experience physically demanding?

We can tailor the experience to be as active or relaxed as you like—just let us know what suits you best!

Can I change the meeting place?

Yes, you will be in touch with your host before your experience, and you can agree on a different meeting point with them. Your host can meet you anywhere central that’s convenient.

Can my host meet me at my accommodation?

Hotel meet-ups are available upon request in central areas. If you're staying outside the city, your host will recommend the best meeting spot and guide you with directions.
