I have been working as a cooking instructor for foreign tourists since 2014. I enjoy teaching Japanese cooking and talking to people from all over the world. I took a English guide license certified by City of Kyoto Visitors Host in 2019, and by the national government in 2022. Currently, I also work as a tour guide in Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. The tour guide did her best to accommodate us. My only suggestion is to explain to the tourist the distance between the sites. I wish we’d just spent our time in one particular area. I know I told her I wanted to see the various places but we didn’t know about the distance until we began the tour.

We had such a great time with Aiko! She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much about local/Japanese culture with us. We walked through Nishiki market where we ate a bunch of dessert and non-dessert foods - and even stopped for some craft beer too. We ended the tour in historic Gion, which was a great way to cap off the tour!

Aiko is helpful, knowledgeable and a good communicator. She has lots of local knowledge to share and brought educational materials that helped us learn about what we were seeing. The private tour was flexible, accommodated impromptu stops, and is a great way to get introduced to Kyoto.

Aiko was the perfect guide to Kyoto. She met us right at the train station and customized our tour to include both interesting historical sites like the Nijo Castle and Fushimi inari shrine, as well as anime and clothing shops for our 12-year-old daughter, and markets for me. Her knowledge of both history and modern culture made the tour really interesting and Aiko is just generally a really kind person. It was the perfect day in Kyoto. Thank you Aiko!
