Papalote Museo del Niño

For younger children, like my toddler Mateo, the Papalote Museo del Niño is a great place to check out. A well-curated and fun museum located in the heart of Mexico City, in the Bosque de Chapultepec (forest), the Papalote Museo del Niño is perfect if you’re seeking activities in Mexico City with baby or Mexico City with a toddler. Home to an array of crafty and interactive exhibitions that could entertain every personality (even the most easily distracted), the museum is full of sections like “inside the body”, “cosmos”, “Mexico”, “my city”, “my family” and a really cool “lego” section. It's very much about learning as well as playing and entertaining. With learning, communication and working together at its heart, you can fully delve into the world of science, technology and art, and teach your kids about important topics in an interesting way.

Bosque de Chapultepec

Speaking of the Bosque de Chapultepec, that on its own is a great destination to head to with children. A huge open, green space at the heart of the city, Chapultepec Park (or Bosque de Chapultepec) is a cool area and great forest for visitors with families to enjoy. Home to a wide range of activities and attractions, such as an internationally renowned zoo, a Natural History Museum, a few lakeside restaurants, impressive monuments, fountains and areas for cultural exhibits, the spot is great for exploring with a picnic. There are plenty of gardens and green spaces with an interesting variety of flora and fauna to see, such as very tame squirrels who enjoy crackers and peanuts. A safe and calm ecological spot, you can easily spend a whole day exploring the grounds of the natural reserve. Enjoy the open air of one of the largest city parks in the Western Hemisphere, and soak up the natural vibe of one of the best free things to do in Mexico City.

KidZania

KidZania is a really cool place to take your little and big ones. It’s a mini interactive representation of the city made for children between the ages of 2 and 14 that combines inspiration, fun and learning through realistic role-play. Kids can pretend to be adults as they independently explore a scaled city of over 7,000 square meters with more than 100 exciting careers that they can try. With real-life sponsors, KidZania has manufacturing companies, hospital, banks, service companies, government agencies, transportation companies, stores, and even an airline. All in which, kids can make money by working at, and then spend their unique KidZania currency on other activities. There are so many activities to try, that one visit alone couldn’t possibly exhaust them all. The Cuicuilco branch is easily accessible and full of fun exhibits and activities to get stuck in to. KidZania really gives children the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild, while you get a breather from the madness of taking children on holiday.
