I Got $20 in my Pocket- your Bangkok Thrifting Guide

Are you into thrifting? Do you want to dress like the cool, local hipsters? Let me put you onto the top three places in Bangkok to shop for affordable vintage and second-hand clothing!

Bang Sue Junction

Bang Sue Junction

Located next to Chatuchak Market, Bang Sue Junction is a MASSIVE shopping mall filled to the brim with vintage clothing, shoes, accessories, and even furniture items. Take your time browsing here while cooling down in the refreshing aircon. The first floor is mainly home decor items, head to the upper floors for clothing and accessories. Price ranges a lot here, as you can find vintage designer items alongside second-hand high-street brands. A lot of the vendors here are incredibly creative and upcycle vintage items in new and creative ways. There is surely something for everyone to be found here! You can reach Bang Sue Junction by taking the MRT blue line to Kamphaeng Phet Station.

*Note that Bang Sue Junction is closed on Mondays.

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak Weekend Market

This is the largest outdoor market in the entire world and opens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. There is a massive vintage section here, where you can browse for endless hours. I’ve found some of my coolest band tees here. Be sure to bring a hand fan and stay hydrated as this market gets HOT.  Prices are not fixed so don’t be afraid to haggle. A warning in advance- you’ll need to buy an extra suitcase after your shopping spree here. You can reach Chatuchak by taking the BTS Skytrain to Mo Chit station or taking the MRT Blue line to Kamphaeng Phet station.

Pattivikorn Market New Project

If you don’t mind the heat and you’re looking for a more adventurous thrifting experience head to this massive market on the outskirts of Bangkok. You will surely find some bargains here if you’re willing to put in the work and dig through the enormous piles of clothing. Thankfully, this market also has a local food court with a multitude of food and drink stalls to keep you well-fueled. I suggest taking a Grab or taxi here as it can be hard to reach by public transportation.

These affordable thrifting locations will leave your suitcase full, without breaking the bank. Make sure to check these out on your next trip to Bangkok.
