What you’ll do

You’ll join one of our Seoul hosts to eat your way around town, stopping off at the places where locals really eat. No touristy barbeque restaurant for you!

Try dishes like kalguksu, a soup made of hand made noodles and anchovy-based broth and the locally famous garlic bomb chicken stew!

Practice makes perfect, and the sikdang (local restaurant) you’ll visit to sample this explosive stew has been making just this one dish for over 50 years, so it’s pretty much perfect by now.

You’ll feast on mandu (dumplings) that are made the traditional, North-Korean way in a tiny Insadong sikdang where a grandma oversees the business, or try the South-Korean version in Ikseondong, a neighborhood which is famous for its Hanok style cafe street.

Try traditional street eats like rice cakes and sambo-dong hotteok, a type of pancake, made from corn dough and filled with sugar, honey, nuts and cinnamon.

Just make sure you save some room - there’s that Korean barbeque restaurant to dine at. You know, the really local one where there’s not a tourist in sight and you might stand out a little - worth it for the food!

Our Picks

  • Join your host and immerse yourself in Seoul’s local culture through its food

  • Experience traditional Korean food and immerse yourself in the real food culture of the city

  • Visit sikdang (small, local eateries) where you’ll know you’re getting an authentic taste of Seoul

  • Sit down and share a meal with your host at a Korean BBQ restaurant - no tourist traps, we’ll take you somewhere you might stand out a little, but all worth it for the food!

  • Explore districts like Insadong and Ikseondong, a neighborhood which is famous for its Hanok style cafe street

  • Try a traditional dishes like mandu (dumplings), noodle soup and garlic chicken stew

  • Learn about the local street food culture as you go - it would be rude not to pick up a rice cake or pancake along the way, right?

Highly recommend!

Ben was a very good tourguide. He took us to places we would not have thought to go and advised us on things to do around Seoul. The private tour was catered to us and our needs. Very good.

Wonderful tour of the city!

We had such an amazing time with Yujin! She met us at our hotel and showed us all we needed to know about using the metro in Seoul. We had told her about wanting to try street foods so we went to Myeongdong and also that we wanted to try korean BBQ so she took us to her fave spot! We then walked to another market called Namdaemun and finished in another bar area with her. It was so great to get a local's point of view and to have her help navigating such a new city.

Food tour with Ben was awesome!

Ben took us on a food tour. We ate some great street food, walked around markets and then ate in a fantastic restaurant. Finally we went to a dessert cafe and had wonderful sherbet. Ben was a ton of fun. I will recommend him to all of my friends traveling to Seoul!
