Hi, I am Melissa, a former architect who has been living in Seoul for four years. When I first visited Korea years ago, I fell in love with the culture and food of the place. It amazed me how traditional and modern cultures could coexist so well. One of my favorite districts is Jongno, where you can find the historic Gyeongbok palace and surrounding hanoks juxtaposed against contemporary buildings. The nearby areas such as Insa-dong, Ikseon-dong (great for cafe-hopping), and Samcheong-dong (where I bring friends to visit a modern hanbok shop) are also must-see places! I am a foodie and I believe that Korea has more to offer than the usual bibimbap. Eating in Korea is often a shared bonding experience as there are many communal dishes where a group of friends would eat from the same pot. Perhaps we could also exchange stories over some of my favorite lesser-known dishes such as gamjatang, dakbokkeumtang, and dakhanmari! I'd love to share my favorite haunts with travelers looking for a uniquely tailored experience in Seoul. See you soon!
