The market has been a much-loved fixture of East London for over 350 years. The world-class chefs and exciting brands available are on par with East London's reputation as stylish, trendy and contemporary, while the gorgeous space reminds visitors of London's regal past.

12:30

Delicious food in one of the traditional 1920's iranian cafés of Bombay

  • It is hard to recommend this restaurant highly enough. This is a chic and original take on the famed but now disappearing Iranian cafes of Bombay, which were all the rage in the colonial India of the early 1900s. The food is thus a mix of Iranian and Indian delicacies, which are all prepared tantalising and superb. But it is the atmosphere that really sets this unique restaurant in a league of its own. The space is a1920s classic but with a refreshing twist which embodies elements of Bombay and Iran. The menus arrive on old-fashioned newspapers while the wall mosaics mixed with paneled mahogany, tiled tables, slow moving ceiling fans and the winding verandah invites you to lounge, relax and unwind. There are Persians rugs, a profusion of plants, silver tea trays, iconic antique liquor bottles, and much, much more to enjoy here.

14:00

A street art tour featuring the cutting-edge art of Shoreditch.

  • A street art tour featuring the best and most cutting-edge art pieces and features of Shoreditch. Follow your local as the lead you through the dense network of narrow streets where some of the most impressive street art in the world hides just waiting to be viewed. Whether it's an unsuspecting collection of carefully designed stickers strewn out over a signpost, perhaps by street sign decorator Clet Abraham, or whole walls that have been adorned afresh by such notable names as Shok, Stick and Otto Schade, there is much to be seen and considered along the endless corners, windows and streets of Shoreditch.

15:30

Visit a purpose-built international visual arts centre

  • A purpose-built contemporary visual arts centre made up of several floors holding galleries, a library, café, bookshop and workshops. Tanzanian architect David Adjaye designed the centre, to provide an influential space for providing dialogue and reflection on global diversity. A sowei mask from Sierra Leone served as the inspiration behind the lattice design of the building's extraordinary exterior, which delivered a fresh wave of vibrancy to the face of Shoreditch. The exhibits are generally free and open to the public, with the seminar rooms and offices used for private events and lectures on visual culture and diversity. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Customer Reviews

Average customer reviews:

Shoreditch & Hoxton is excellent.

By Roger G. on 14 Dec 2015

This is definitely somewher that should be explored with someone who knows the area. Ruxandra was very cool and first took us on a street-art tour, which was probably the best tour experience I've had anywhere. It was slightly like a treasure hunt but with cool bars on the way to stop in at. We also checked out some galleries that were terrific, much better than what we have in Toronto.

Shoreditch is a hipster's paradise

By Alessandra V. on 03 Jan 2016

Definitely the most hipster-ish place my friends and I had ever been to. I think we were slightly out of place, being a bunch of cosplay nerds but that didn't stop us from having a lot of fun and we really got along with Angela, who was an American too so she got our nerdiness and took us to a bar themed around Alice and Wonderland, which was more up our alley.

Very cool!

By Aniki S. on 20 Jan 2016

Loved, loved, loved everything about this tour. I can't recommend it enough. DO it. It's just as magical and personalised as spotify's discover weekly. So many vintage markets, so much coffee, so much art....why isn't this isn't already a really well-known idea for a tour?

Cheaper than central London

By Virginia A. on 03 Mar 2016

I was amazed by how different Shoreditch & Hoxton are to other areas of London and also by how much more affordable it was! It was definitely very trendy and with lots of stuff to do.

The best place for clubbing

By Ephraim C. on 17 Mar 2016

My friends and I wanted to find the best bars and club scene while we were in London and it was just great. George was really cool and good fun to party with. By booking this tour we were able to go to all the best places without the hassle of trying to find them for ourselves but it wasn't a lame tour or pub crawl.

Eclectic, Vibrant and Cosmopolitan

By Penny T. on 30 Mar 2016

Being from a small town, my boyfriend and I had no idea even where to begin when we wanted to explore the "trendy" parts of London. And this was an ideal way to do it because we got a completely personalised tour, based around all of our shared interests. And even though we didn't exactly know what kind of bar scene we were into or what food to try, our Host was very good at figuring out what she thought we would like based on our personalities and conversation--so we were pretty impressed with the whole experience. If we could make a suggestion we would have liked to hear more historical facts about the area but we did learn a lot about the Jack the Ripper murders, which was very interesting.
