Elegant, Beautiful, Intimate
Richmond was the original royal retreat of London. Richmond is easy to access yet an idyllic country-village escape from the bustling city crowds. Richmond still retains all of the charm and elegance of its regal past, with large villas and townhouses sitting peacefully along the Thames. Here you can walk along the large waterfront promenade, and look out at the graceful swans and willow trees along the opposite bank. There are plenty of gorgeous pubs to enjoy and no shortage of restaurants, intimate gallery spaces, cafes with large open terraces and several good local theatres such as the famed Richmond theatre. Perhaps Richmond’s most appealing and well-known feature is Richard Park, which is a sprawling expanse of hills, dales, ponds and ancient trees, particularly with stunning oaks. The park is a protected National Nature Reserve, filled with wildlife including herds of red and fallow deer.
Here is a suggested itinerary to allow you to experience as much of the area in a few hours. After booking we can adapt the tour to suit your interests and preferences.
Coffee at a riverside cafe in a vaulted building underneath Richmond Bridge.
A vegetarian restaurant in a vaulted, converted building underneath Richmond Bridge. The restaurant has a large garden filled with leafy trees, which is an ideal place to take in the splendid views of the Thames. This family friendly restaurant has great coffee, live music, and original vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and perfect for a breakfast, lunch or dinner outing.
A walk to discover Richmond's hidden lanes & gardens
There are countless walks to enjoy around the lovely and historic riverside community of Richmond. In addition to the charming lanes and cobbled walks of the town there are 21 miles of riverbank paths and 6.4 miles of parkland or 2,500 acres (three times the size of Central Park). And since there simply aren't enough hours in the day to see it all, our tour will take you on the best meandering ways, winding paths and sloping hills to discover the very best of what RIchmond has to offer.
Lunch at a charming, Bavarian restaurant by the river
This restaurant has wonderful German food and beer and is right on the river. It's a great place that's reasonably priced and has a beer garden where you can eat, drink and relax- truly a pork & meat eaters heaven!
About this tour
Begin your day by meeting your Local Host at the station and heading down towards the iconic riverside walkways. Your local will help you navigate along the narrow lanes, cobbled streets and alleys to find the perfect public house or charming café to sit and watch the world go by. The architecture is classically English and gives off all the charm of a country-village but with a more cosmopolitan mindset. There are dozens of eateries, galleries, wine shops, boutiques and more for you to explore. In the afternoon, your local can lead you through the best of Richmond Park or Kew Gardens, to visit one of the many historic buildings or stroll through one of the garden exhibits, such as the aqua garden or incredible treetop walkway. If you’d rather do something more indoors there are several prominent museums and theatres local to the community. This is a lively and picturesque part of London with a lot to offer, it’s an especially nice place for families or people who are passionate about nature and history.

I am an experienced tour guide, artist and designer, with a passion for London. I was born and brought up here in London, which is the most vibrant mix of old and new. It has three thousand years of history, yet is always re-inventing itself. So it remains the most contemporary and cosmopolitan in the world, brim full of art, design, architecture, theatre and music. My interests are mostly based around, and my background is largely in; the Arts. Particularly fine art, pop art, graphic art, street art and architecture. I have a university BA Hons degree in Art and Visual Communication and I am also a designer and artist. There are many human stories to tell, behind London, behind it's history and behind it's art.Languages

We were impressed!By Brian L. on 09 May 2016
Honestly, I was so impressed by the tour--I had no idea what to expect having always opted for traditional tour companies in the past, but from now on I will be doing more of these small and personalized tours where I can find them. Our guide was phenomenal, really knowledgeable and patient with all our questions. We are sad we are leaving tomorrow because otherwise we would be booking the Brixton tour that our guide talked about. Next time!
Wonderful private and in depth tourBy Nathan C. on 10 Apr 2016
A thorough tour that was highly efficient and well organized. our Local Host was very nice and helpful--making changes to the itinerary that we asked for at the last moment, which we were really appreciative of. We learned a lot and enjoyed the lovely community. My family and I are appreciative and happy customers.
Very enjoyable tourBy Opal D. on 13 Jan 2016
Richmond was completely worth it and our guide was great. This was the best tour I have done in the UK. our Local Host was really informative, understanding and helpful. We appreciated all the historical facts and beautiful architecture we got to see--we will definitely be recommending this to friends.
Great for familiesBy Russell M. on 13 Dec 2015
This is a fantastic and worthwhile tour that I really appreciated. The area was somewhere we wouldn't have gotten the most out of on our own, having never travelled to London before. My sons and I were pleased and my boys especially liked all the deer we got to see in the park (and the ice creams).
