About me
Hi all, my name is Yuka! I was born and raised in the Netherlands, because my parents moved there 40 years ago. They are Japanese, so I was always curious about my roots. When I was old enough, I had an opportunity to do an architecture exchange program at Tokyo University. That was the first time I lived in Tokyo. As a student and a newbie, I explored the city a lot. I had to leave Japan after the exchange program, but I always came back and visited Tokyo at least once a year. Finally in 2017 I moved here for good! My work includes architecture and interior design projects. I am very social, so during my free time I love to go out with my Japanese, Dutch and international friends and tryout something new. If you are interested in art, culture, and historical and modern architecture, Tokyo is the place to be! I love exploring the city-nature, traditional Japanese festivals, traditional and new buildings and interior design (you can already see the upcoming Olympic games in 2020 in the cityscape), and cute traditional renovated alleys with boutiques and cafes. Tokyo never gets boring, because there is so much to do and see! The most impressive aspect of the city is the diversity and the contrast of each area. Every district looks different, has a different kind of vibe and people. The best way to get to know Tokyo is by walking and looking around and trying out Japanese food and sweets. Tokyo offers something different for every season of the year, so let’s have a fun time together in the city!
