About me
Hi, I'm Josh. I was born in Shanghai but grew up in Wisconsin, the American Midwest. I currently live in the Sakyo area of Kyoto - It's a brilliant neighbourhood packed with ancient temples, retro-style "mom & pop" restaurants and coffee shops. I studied Sociology and Classical Chinese Literature in college, and I am doing some Japanese language research here in Kyoto. I am also a Japanese bathhouse (sento) enthusiast, trained photographer and love exploring Kyoto by bike. Not just in Japan- I've lived and travelled to many places across Asia: done journalism Vietnam, worked at a night market in Taiwan, and studied language in India to name a few. But Kyoto has really stood out for me, because of its quaintness and tranquillity. That's a part of Kyoto I want to show you.
