I’ve lived in Kyoto for 3 years
I speak English, Japanese
I am a Student
Hi, my name’s Honoka, I started living in Kyoto 4 years ago for my University studies. This is my last year of University school. I love Kyoto’s special atmosphere, a feeling like we have time slipped to the old days of Japan. I like learning about shrines and temples, how each is different and what it’s famous for. I would love to show you around Kyoto and visit famous minor shrines and temples talking about the history of Japan. Besides temples, I like going to cafes. There are many cafes in Kyoto since there are many students. I especially love the warmness you can feel from the handmade delicious taste and the character of the owner. Each cafe has a different taste or concept, and I enjoy them. If my guest's request, I can show them around Japanese traditional to modern, many kinds of cafes I love in Kyoto. When we are spending a day together I will still definitely love to visit shrines and temples. I think there are many new places for my guest that they wouldn’t find out by them going alone, and I am hoping that showing them my hidden gems will make them fall in love with Kyoto, moreover Japan better than before. My favorite shrine is called Fushimiinari Shrine. I think the story behind it is interesting for many generations, the view is gorgeous and also mysterious at night, there are some activities like the Omokaru-stone (thinking the weight of the stone before you held it up, and if it is lighter than you expect, it is said that your wish will come true soon) which I find very interesting. Also, Japanese architecture has many meanings in its structure, the shape of the window, the pattern, the picture on the roof, and so on. I will like to explain these things. Others, wearing Kimono, having a dining experience, going to traditional markets, walking around Kamo river, a place I usually go for a small walk or enjoying Japanese new culture like Karaoke or Purikura (a Photo Booth famous among Japanese girls) are some things I will like to do. But most of all, I want to make a special day for my guests, and make a plan just for them!
