What you’ll do

Close to sea and mountains, Kanazawa has earned its reputation as a culinary powerhouse with some of the best fresh produce in Japan. With your local host as a menu decipherer, sample street food at Omicho Market (the “Kitchen of Kanazawa”) – crunchy seafood- or veggie-filled Omicho croquettes are famous for being some of the best in the country and fried, skewered squid is always a treat. Cool down with Kanazawa’s glittering gold leaf ice-cream, and tuck into Kanazawa-style curry (a rich, gooey sauce served with a pork cutlet) or Hanton rice – fried rice under a blanket of runny omelet. Head to your host’s favorite izakaya and savor some of Japan’s freshest sashimi with a cold beer, and if you still have room? Try some local craft gins and craft beers!

    Jorge did a good job touring us around kanazawa. He speaks flawless english and japanese!! He made our stay more memorable by sharing stories about the city, architecture and of course a little bit of background about the food too. We would recommend him to our other family and friends who would visit!

    Megumi took us first to the fish market where we tried all kinds of different seafood, sake and even beef sushi. She helped us out so much, explained the different types, and we got to try so much! Than we walked to the old town, had a tea and sake tasting. The whole experience was perfect, and Megumi is a lovely host that loves to connect with people and will tell you so much about the Japanese way. 3 words: a fantastic afternoon!
